International Prize – Thematic 2024

The 2024 Fyssen International Prize will be awarded for research in :

COLLECTIVE BEHAVIOR ACROSS SPECIES

By integrating experimental and theoretical research, the study of collective behavior seeks to understand how complex group functions arise from individual interactions. This field investigates how animals move together, transfer information, make decisions, synchronize their activities, and build collectively, among other collective behaviors. This interdisciplinary field, rooted in ethology, bridges multiple disciplines, including physics, mathematics, computer science, and psychology. The Prize will be awarded to an internationally recognized scholar who has significantly advanced our understanding of how coordinated group patterns emerge from individual behaviors using a range of animal systems.

The award for the International Prize is 100 000 €
